Research Assistant - Interneuron Specification In The Zebrafish Spinal Cord

Requirements:
Applicants should have a first degree (BSc) in Biology. At least a year of work experience using zebrafish embryos for Developmental Biology research is essential. The successful candidate should have prior experience in double fluorescent in situ hybridization and morpholino knock-down experiments in zebrafish embryos (including injecting embryos and, ideally, PCR analysis of splice blocking morpholinos). In addition, experience in the following techniques would be beneficial: Gateway cloning in zebrafish, confocal microscopy, constructing and analysing zebrafish transgenic lines, immunohistochemistry, bioinformatic analysis of conserved non-coding elements, FAC sorting zebrafish neurons and analysing microarray data.
Abstract:
Applications are invited for a research assistant to work in the laboratory of Dr Kate Lewis examining how specific transcription factors specify the unique characteristics of particular interneurons in the zebrafish spinal cord.
Description:
This position is available from early May 2011. Salary will be in the range of ?23,566 - ?26,523 per annum depending on experience. Funding is available for up to 1 year. This is a non-renewable appointment.
