Requirements:
• Enthusiasm for working at the physical/life science interface
• PhD or anticipated PhD, in physical or life sciences (e.g. theoretical physics, applied mathematics, theoretical biology)
• Strong background in quantitative techniques (such as writing and implementing computer simulation algorithms, or theoretical model building using calculus and/or stochastic process theory)
• Capable of working in a team, but able to plan and work independently
• Good communication and presentation skills
Abstract:
Applications are invited for two postdoctoral positions in the group of Prof Timothy Newman. Prof Newman recently moved to the University of Dundee from Arizona State University. He is building a new group of theoretical and computational systems biology research which will be housed within the world-class College of Life Sciences complex at the University of Dundee. The Newman group works closely with biologists on projects spanning molecular to tissue scales, in both basic research and biomedical application. The postdoctoral positions to be filled have various funding sources, allowing some latitude in projects, but the main focus will be on using computational modelling techniques to understand cell dynamics during embryonic development.
